Tan Zhongyi (China) becomes the 16th Women's World Chess Champion

In the final match of the World Championship in Tehran Tan Zhongyi defeated Anna Muzychuk on tie-break with 1,5 – 0,5.

The final tie-break of the Women's World Chess Championship took place in the Espinas Palace Hotel on March 3. Four previous games with classical time control finished with 2:2 score.
In the first rapid game with 25 min+10 sec time control Anna Muzychuk had good chances to win in a better ending. She could have put more pressure on her opponent but let Chinese player to escape.
In the second game it was Tan Zhongyi who had better chances but Anna Muzychuk found managed to organize conter play, which most probably would guarantee her chances to keep the balance.

39.Kh6?? It seems Anna Muzychuk could not stand enormous pressure any more! After White’s next move 40.g4 with mate the game was over.

Tan Zhongyi became 16th Women’s World Champion and the fifth Chinese player who won the highest title in the chess history.
